Aim of our "double blind", "randomized", "cross-over" study was in order to evaluate the cardiovascular and hemodynamics profile related to hypotensive effects of ICO on hypertensive pts in CAPD.
Week 0 12 26 P<BP syst. (mmHg) 166±29 167±31 136±25 0.05 PA diast (mmHg) 97±16 98±25 84±19 0.01
Arterial BP was significantly improved after ICO making possible drug interruption. This hemodynamic effect is obtained by reduction of SVR, which load to improvement of cardiac index(SI) and of systolic index (SI). A night dwell (ɲh) with ICO reduces and improves BP in CAPD patients hyperidrated contributing to the concept that this fluid can ameliorate the cardiovascular risk factors.
