La HTA induce un daño sobre los organos diana llevando a un incremento del riesgo de Ictus,Enf Cardiaca o Fallo renal.Ademas la Angiotensina II ejerce una amplia variedad de efectos deletereos sobre los organos diana,estos efectos variados son mediados por señales llevando a la proliferacion celular ,el incremento del stress oxidativo,y reducción del oxido nítrico.
Hypertension induces target-organ damage, leading to an increased risk of stroke, cardiovascular disease and renal failure.1 Antihypertensives, such as telmisartan, can reduce the risk of these outcomes.
In addition to its effects on BP, angiotensin II also exerts a wide variety of deleterious effects on target organs that can hasten end-organ damage.2 These effects are mediated directly or via several signal transduction pathways that lead to cellular proliferation, increased oxidative stress and reduced nitric oxide.2
Therefore, interventions that target the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system (RAAS) can have benefits in addition to their effects on hypertension.
