Uses icodextrin as an alternative osmotic (colloid) agent
Provides positive UF for “long dwells” – CAPD overnight and CCPD daytime
Maintains positive UF during peritonitis
Maximizes UF and clearances while reducing carbohydrate absorption
Metabolized by amylase and maltase to glucose– serum maltose levels steady for at least 2 years with no evidence of accumulation
