In the begining, there was free software...

The free software, and the concept of sharing it is not strange to science.

Sharing it is not a strange concept on science. Sharing knowlede is the backbone of the advance of science and quality of life of humankind.

Patents, and any limitations to the expansion of knowledge, used to be strange to basic science.

And software was always considered by scientists as a piece of knowledge.
